If you were trying to budget daily cost of the GAL Convention in Tacoma - what would you estimate? Barring any temptation to splurge on wood, that is. |

This is from the GAL web site: Fees for attendance and dorm/meal packages will be listed in March. If you have not attended our convention in the past, and would like a ballpark figure for budgeting purposes: In 2004 fees for one person to register to attend, exhibit their instruments, stay in a single standard dorm room and eat on campus for the entire event were under $450. Fees this year will be comparable, but will reflect our increased costs. Now, this is me talking again... It costs less if you don't exhibit. You don't have to spend anything more while you're there unless you want to go out to eat or drink at a local establishment. But the food on campus is perfectly tolerable for a weekend. Don't miss the opportunity to buy some wood, though! I really like to get my eyes, hands, and ears on the wood I buy, so I look at it as an opportunity to stock up. Most of the wood - ALL of the tops - I've ever bought has been purchased at gatherings like these. The GAL staff make it very easy to ship stuff home from there, too, so it really works out well. |

I agree with Todd. It's like going to market. (The best market you've ever seen.) Steve |
